What are the MPACT Awards?
Each year, Slingshot recognizes nonprofit organizations that demonstrate effective, evidence-based approaches to fighting poverty while celebrating the people and partnerships making that impact possible.The MPACT Awards bring together community leaders, funders, and nonprofit organizations to celebrate what is working and inspire continued investment in effective poverty fighting efforts. On this special night, Slingshot presents two types of awards to nonprofits: the MPACT Award and the MPROVE Award.
MPACT Award
Recognizes organizations that demonstrate outstanding poverty fighting effectiveness through strong outcomes, evidence based practices, and measurable impact.
MPROVE Award
Recognizes organizations that have made significant improvements to strengthen their programs, increase their effectiveness, and expand their impact.
3rd Annual MPACT Award Recipients
The INSPIRE Award
The INSPIRE Award exists to celebrate philanthropists embracing an evidence-based approach to fight poverty. These are the individuals and institutions that refuse to accept the status quo. The inaugural INSPIRE Awards are named in honor of Harriet McFadden, Slingshot's founding board chair and a fierce advocate for making Memphis a place of opportunity.
Bill Townsend
A native Memphian, successful business executive, and passionate civic leader, Bill consistently supports high-impact nonprofits through financial investments and through activating others in the community by hosting 60+ events annually at the historic Annesdale Mansion.
FedEx
Using evidence-based research, FedEx has created a new engagement strategy called "Mobilizing Memphis' Workforce Potential". It has three key pillars, specific focus areas, and measurable objectives to address both short-term critical needs and long-term social challenges.
